From Albuquerque, New Mexico, a young pair of musicians in love with Balkan fever have forged a new sound with Klezmer swing.

On Délivrance, Jeremy Barnes (accordion and percussion) and Heather Trost (violin) are in a delirious spin in the midst of an orchestra composed of Anglo-Saxon sure-shots gathered together over time and the top Hungarian gypsy musicians based in Budapest. Among them, cymbalum players Kalman Balogh and Balázs Unger of the Hun Hangár Ensemble. The energy and velocity of these virtuosos transport these two Americans beyond their wildest dreams. There’s a real sense of musical joy, combined with an innovative approach which draws on indie pop and romantic dreams about Old Europe. You can hear it in the way they sing and in the subtle production of this album, which sits happily next to your Taraf de Haïdouks and Fanfare Ciocarlia favourites.
